erry Christmas to everyone.  I trust that we will all have  safe and blessed Christmas season.  Christmas is the time that we celebrate the birth of our Lord.  Our celebration is motivated by two considerations:  the person of Christ and the salvation work of Christ.  For anyone whose life has been dramatically changed by Jesus, it should not be hard to keep the proper focus this Christmas.
The birth of Christ was no ordinary birth.  It brought heaven and earth in close contact.  Angels sang in the heavens to shepherds keeping watch over their flocks outside Bethlehem.  God and man were conjoined in one person in the babe in Bethlehem.  A star in the heavens led wise men from the east to the house of Joseph and Mary.  They recognized his greatness and give him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
I wonder if we have lost the wonder of the person of Christ.  It is so easy to take holy things for granted.  There is no objective meaning to the December 25th celebration if we subtract Jesus from the holiday.  Joyful worship should mark our celebration of this hold day.  The birth of Christ is tidings of great joy.  We are blessed.  God has visited us in Christ, redeemed us, and opened the gates of heaven for us.
God has blessed our church this past month with the best attendance numbers I ever remember.. We averaged 103 in Sunday School and 108 in Sunday Morning Worship.  To God be the glory.
